This is a sight that feels me with deep sorrow, and it pains me to say that this is very much symbolic of the neglect that is experienced by stiles all over the UK. There is rustic, and then there is this downright lack of respect for the importance of the stile by simply putting a gap next to it, which as we all know is not as visually appealing nor physically rewarding as the traditional stile. Lack of upkeep has left this stile covered in moss, extremely wonky and looking like it is on the verge of collapse – and that is indeed very upsetting to see!
