Near Canterbury, Kent – 4/10

The stile world has a history of producing visionaries, but renegades and mavericks are always rightly met with the utmost trepidation, as the result is often creations such as this bizarre hybrid. The attempt to incorporate a stile into the components of the already established railings (though admirable on some levels) just does not work in terms of presentation. While just including the one step is a fatal (but depressingly very common) mistake, but what is a bigger and completely unforgiveable error of judgement is the loose pieces of wiring draping all over the frame, creating a truly visual cacophony. The metal frame admittedly does provide structural solidarity, but this is overall a real slapdash effort.
