I think this complete and utter shambles is some kind of sick and twisted joke! Of course, the construction of stiles should always be encouraged when it is appropriate, but this seems half finished!
The main reason for the existence of a stile is usually to prevent livestock from escaping from a field or to maintain a boundary, but at this particular location we have on the one side a road and the other a hill with some trees, so there really is no need for this to be a stile and that rogue top rail of wood to even be there! To add insult to injury it is at a very inconvenient height to climb over and the fence itself is very rickety, making the whole thing an absolute detritus and an insult to all good, honest stiles out there.
