Though the combination of iron and wood may not be aesthetically pleasing, they do produce a reasonably functional stile with good stability. Navigation is still not as comfortable as it would be if a second step were added however, with not only the single step being a little too high from the ground, but also the height between the top rail and the step, and marks must inevitably be deducted for this.
