Near Tyler Hill, Kent – 5/10

It is good to see a stile finally incorporating a double-step design, but instead of the conventional but very effective cross-step design, the designer here seems to want to court controversy with the steps at a peculiar angle in relation to the bars. The height rise between the top step and top rail are undoubtedly above the guideline of 450mm, and so marks must inevitably be deducted for this. This is a shame, as the steps themselves, along with the overall structure of the stile, are pretty solid and sturdy.
