It seems abundantly clear that there are many philistines out there that not only fail to appreciate a good quality stile, but they would also seem to do anything to avoid having to exert the effort required to navigate one when the lazy landowner will offer alternative routes. This is especially going to be the case when the stile in question is quite poor, like this one. The single step and poor quality of wood used makes navigation more effort than it should be, but it admittedly could be worse. However, when there are two significant gaps either side of the stile then people will just inevitably use these instead, and this is an unforgiveable element of the ‘design’ of this stile.
