Sadly it is often the case that not all appreciate stiles, and there have been numerous examples, where a more straight-forward (and quite simply cheating) route becomes available over time, leaving the stile to become redundant, un-kept and sometimes left to decay and crumble away. This particular stile would appear to have been initially built with quite weak material and not have the appropriate foundations (a sadly all too familiar sight these days) and one day it must have just given up the ghost which lead to it becoming unusable, and so the only way to access the adjoining land was to egregiously toss it into a hedge for it to just decay in a heap. There is surely an alarming moral of this story which tragically very few (if indeed any) landowners will learn from!
