Near Street End, Kent – 6/10

The visual presentation of this stile is admittedly pretty good as it continues the pattern of the fence that it is part of and uses solid, decent wood. However, this is all well and good, but if the designer is only willing to implement a single step then it is very much a case of style over substance (pun intended) – the solitary step is even at diagonal angle to suggest it was actually considered at some point! The fence is a fair height, and a second step is desperately needed in that gap in the middle of the horizontal panels as it is quite a stretch for those with short legs. The barbed wire also adds another potential hazard to a stile this such a severe waste of potential.
