Near Seaton, Kent – 3/10

I am more than happy to accept that I am not particularly skilled at taking pictures, but it is important to clarify that my camera is actually being held straight!

The bent posts of this stile do not exactly induce confidence, and it would seem quite clear that people are opting for the gap, and these people squeezing through may well have caused the stile to bend even more. However, the fault has to lie entirely with the landowner, as they not only designed a poor stile but were naïve enough to leave a gap next to it.

Though the single step is at a decent height, the wood used for the frame is perilously flimsy and there is also that loose fitting wire to catch the foot of the unaware – no wonder people have been taking their chances by squeezing through that gap!
