Near Dunton Green, Kent – 7/10

Firstly, it is important to point out that it is most certainly very pleasant to finally see a stile with two steps – an absolutely shocking and tragic rarity!

Though this is certainly not one of the most memorable or spectacular stiles, it does admittedly contain all of the fundamentals. The various steps, bars and posts are work in tandem with one another – the tops of the posts are at a good height in relation to the steps, meaning users of all heights are able to use them to aid navigation, likewise the height difference between the bars and steps involving just the right amount of ‘stepping’ that is not unnecessarily challenging or hazardous.

The structure itself is solid and sturdy – and there is even some information included, which is written in the usual way – militant with a subtext of bitterness and resentment. In reality, this should be the minimum standard to be expected from all stiles, but we all know that this is sadly one of the better ones!
