The very slanted and sagging nature of the steps used here would suggest that without some serious and urgent maintenance this stile will not survive many more winters (or indeed summer storms of any particular intensity!). Sadly, there is already so much reluctance and bitterness demonstrated by landowners when installing stiles, and the chances of them actually performing any kind of maintenance on them is sadly non-existent – and this is a perfect demonstration of that!
While navigation of the stile is still reasonably stress-free (aided by that much needed lower step on the side that is on lower ground), the user does have to use extra caution as lurking to catch out the unaware on one of the main posts is our old friend barbed wire. This seems to be further proof that this particular landowner put up this stile with the utmost reluctance, and hazards also equals point deduction.
