While this stile may just about serve its purpose and it does not pose too much of a challenge to navigate, it does so with the designer having used no effort – which does leave a slightly bitter taste in the mouth during navigation – which has to lead to inevitable point deduction. The solitary step is of generous length and width, and it is a reasonably navigable height in relation to the beam – while being held together by strong and stable materials and overall structure. While it does offer general functionality at the most primitive level, it is its lackadaisical nature and design that renders this stile very forgettable, and so it deserves to a very average score – especially as those stinging nettles look primed and ready to make contact with exposed legs!
Near Wye, Kent – 6/10
