A decent structure and appropriate height between the various elements produce what can only be described as a stile that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, without trying anything controversial or spectacular.
The textbook is indeed followed very closely with solid and consistent wood used for the steps and the frame, that slots nicely together. It is always nice to see two steps, though in this case the lowest one is almost at ground level, so some would question if this can even be considered a ‘step’ at all! What would have certainly improved this stile would be for both steps to be slightly higher and in the much celebrated (but sadly underused) diagonal formation, but overall navigation is not too strenuous, but could have certainly been more comfortable with a few minor improvements – which would have yielded a higher mark.
