Near Harefield, Hillingdon – 5/10

Though I think that we can all agree that that very little effort has been put in by the landowner with this stile (in what is probably an intentional act of defiance), but this minimalist design does admittedly (just about) get the job done and is relatively easy to navigate.

The single step is at a diagonal angle, making the lack of a second and higher step at an opposite angle even more glaring and obvious, but it is admittedly of both a good width and length, which inevitably does aid navigation over the solitary bar. The overall design of the stile, while admittedly minimal, is solid and sturdy enough. Though those wearing shorts should watch out for those stinging nettles lurking over that step!
