Near Fordwich, Kent – 7/10

A very nice and symmetrical design that is certainly pleasing on the eye; the wood used is solid and the overall construction very nicely put together, producing a nice and stable stile that is a pleasant and easy navigation experience. The much (and quite rightly) celebrated but criminally underused cross-step design is used very effectively here, with the two steps both at a nice height in relation to the bars. However, in the interest of future excellence and to avoid any kind of complacency, the very highest of standards have to be expected and so therefore marks have to be deducted for one of the steps being slightly bent and also the wood itself starting to show signs of decay – a coat of creosote is certainly needed as soon as possible to prevent further, irreparable decay.
